Koforidua hospital in blood donation campaign drive
The Koforidua Regional Hospital is to organize a blood donation exercise on Monday, July 1, 2013.
Due to the urgent need of blood supply, the management of the hospital has appealed to the general public to participate in the exercise to donate blood at the premises of the hospital between 0800 hours and 12 mid-day.
Speaking to the Ghana News Agency (GNA) in Koforidua, the Acting Medical Director of the Hospital, Dr Kwame Anim-Boamah, said the aim of the programme was to promote voluntary blood donation among the people in the Region.
He appealed to individuals, religious organizations, workers organizations and organized groups, especially members of the various keep-fit clubs to join the staff of the hospital to donate blood to save lives.
The blood bank of the hospital is the only public blood bank in the Region and supplies blood to both state and private medical facilities and needs about 2,000 units of blood annually.
