Nkoranza South Assembly initiates economic ventures

The Nkoranza South Municipal Assembly has decided to venture into some economic activities to generate funds for the Assembly.

The ventures include fruits farming and poultry feed processing.

Proposals on the projects have been forwarded to the Government and consultants would soon come to the Assembly for the necessary feasibility studies before the project begins.

Mr Ebenezer Amoah, Nkoranza South Municipal Development Planning Officer announced this at the third ordinary session of the Assembly at Nkoranza.

He explained that establishment of the fruit processing factory would help reduce post-harvest losses in the production of water melons and mangoes which are major challenges facing farmers in the area due to the absence of a ready market for the produce.

He said Nkoranza Traditional Area is noted for maize production and the poultry feed processing initiative would boost the activities of farmers and help them expand their farms.

Mr Amoah said it would be possible for the Assembly to venture into irrigation projects to establish an all year farming regime.

He said with the production of cashew nuts on a larger scale in Nkoranza, the fruit processing plant would also be structured to process the nuts.

Mr Amoah announced that the Assembly would begin the national street naming programme from the Nkoranza Township before extending it to the other communities in the Municipality.
