Joint Military-Police team to restore peace in Nkonya-Alvanyo

Ghana PoliceLieutenant Commander M.A. Larbi, Director of Public Relations of the Ghana Armed Forces, has said a joint military and police re-enforcement team has been deployed to the Nkonya-Alvanyo area to maintain law and order.

He said the team, which comprises 89 military and 66 police personnel, would operate in Nkonya Tayi and Alavanyo Kpeme adding that the people in those areas are enjoined to cooperate with the taskforce to keep peace.

Lieutenant Commander Larbi, who made this known in a statement copied to the Ghana News Agency, said the team would assist the civilian police to establish control.

The security personnel would set up roadblocks, vehicle checkpoints and carry out robust patrols, arrest suspected criminals or trouble makers, it said.

The current security situation in those areas had been calm since the arrival of the re-enforcement team adding that “the security situation is expected to remain calm in the coming days”, the statement said.
