Government assures Muslims of successful Hajj

MuslimsThe Ashanti Regional Minister, Mr Eric Opoku, has inaugurated a new Mosque at Bekwai with an assurance to Muslims that they would be given every needed support for a successful Hajj, this year.

He said the Government would liaise with the Office of the Chief Imam and the Hajj Committee to ensure that the organization of this year’s pilgrimage to Mecca is done without any stress or hustle to the pilgrims.

This comes on the heels of the announced 20 percent cut in the number of pilgrims to the Holy land.

The restriction, an imposition by the Government of Saudi Arabia, has been attributed to on-going repair works on the Grand Mosque.

Mr. Opoku called for religious tolerance to sustain the peace and harmony in the society, and
asked the Muslims to pray to Allah for continued blessing and prosperity of the country.

Alhaji Umar Farouk Saeed, the Sarkin Zongo of Kumasi, counseled Ghanaians to put the nation ahead of individual parochial ambitions and convenience.

He also appealed to parties to the election petition hearing at the Supreme Court to encourage their supporters to accept in good faith the Court’s verdict.
