Ajumako-Enyan-Essiam confirms President’s nominee
The Ajumako-Enyan-Essiam District Assembly (AEED) at its special meeting on Sunday confirmed the President’s nominee, Mr Peter Light Koomson as the District Chief Executive (DCE) for the second term of office.
Mr Koomson polled 45 yes votes as against 23 no votes, representing 66.2 per cent of the total votes cast.
It would be recalled that the Assembly at its first sitting on July 5, 2013, failed to endorse the nominee as they voted 41 yes as against 25 no votes.
The election was conducted by the District Electoral Officer, Mr Prosper Fiifi Caiquo and his team of officers.
The DCE-elect was then sworn into office by Mr Clement Kwesi Asomah, in-charge of the Ajumako District Magistrates’ Court.
Earlier, eight new government appointees were also sworn-in as assembly members.
Mr Samuel Sarpong, Central Regional Minister, who observed the polls, reminded members that the district assembly concept was a non-partisan one, and that, it was purely for the purpose of development.
He charged the members to do away with personal interest and rather concentrate on the developmental projects for the good and well-being of the people they represent.
