Three MDCEs in Greater Accra sworn into office
Three Municipal and District Chief Executives in the Greater Accra Region had been sworn into office by Mr Julius Debrah, the Regional Minister, over the weekend.
The Chief Executives are Mr John Kwao Sackey, Ga East Municipal, Madam Rita Sowa, La-Dadekotopone Municipal and Mr Anyimi Lartey, Shai Osudoku District.
Mr Debrah, who took the Chief Executives through three oaths, the oath of Office, Allegiance and Secrecy, charged them to discharge their duties diligently and with respect.
He said two of them, Mr Sackey and Mr Lartey were re-nominated by President John Dramani Mahama and confirmed by their various Assemblies and that the confidence reposed in them should reflect in their areas.
He tasked the newly appointed Municipal Chief Executive to emulate the examples of her colleagues and seek advice from the Regional level.
Mr Debrah said the country’s economy was on course and that the Chief Executives must work extra hard and use the resources available at their disposal to develop and improve the living standards of the people in their areas.
He reminded them of President Mahama directive to Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies to ensure that they number and name the houses and streets in their areas.
Mr Debrah also challenged them to be innovative and congratulated them for their appointment and confirmation.
Mr Adjei Annan, a Member of the Council of State said their appointment was a means to serve their people diligently, adding that President Mahama was fighting corruption at all levels and urged them to also discourage it.
Mr Annan asked them to develop a healthy working relationship with the people and staff in other to achieve their goals.
Mr Sackey, on behalf of his colleagues, expressed their gratitude and thanked President Mahama for the confidence he had in them.
He said: “We will behold the president promises and work harder than before to advance the Better Ghana Agenda and improve the living standards of the people .”
