Finance Ministry assures road project victims of payments
Major M.S Tara (Rtd), Chief Director of the Ministry of Finance, has assured persons affected by the Accra-Kumasi highway and Adenta –Madina express road project of immediate payment of their compensation.
He said the payment would be effected as soon as the Finance Ministry is able to mobilise enough funds.
Major Tara gave the assurance when the victims staged a peaceful demonstration at the Finance Ministry to demand payments of their monies.
Major Tara accompanied by Mr Patrick Nomo, Director of Budget, and Mr Kwabena Oku-Afari, Director of Real Sector Division, engaged the executives of the group in a meeting.
He asked the victims to be patience as the procedures are in place to pay them.
Mr Kwabena Owusu Dome, Spokesperson for the group, appealed to Major Tara and the Ministry to walk their talk and make sure their monies are paid without further delays.
He said some of the victims have lost their daily income due to the project.
The victims from Suhum embarked on the peaceful demonstration due to the incessant cancellation and postponement of their appointments with the Minister and officials at the Finance Ministry regarding the payments.
