The Planning Committee for the 1st Anniversary of the Late President John Evan Atta Mills, has made special car parking arrangements towards the wreath-laying ceremony at the Asomdwee Park today Wednesday.
A statement issued by the Planning Committee and signed by Kofi Totobi Quakyi, the Chairman and copied to the Ghana News Agency in Accra, said vehicles with red stickers would park at the Castle, Osu.
It said cars with pink stickers and vehicles with diplomatic number plates would park at a specially designated area along the Marine Drive, leading to the rear entrance of the Black Star Square.
“Both red and pink sticker holders are to note that after 1pm there will be no vehicular access on the Castle drive road towards the Marine Drive leading to the rear entrance of Black Star Square,” it added.
The statement said the main grounds of the Black Star Square would be available to members of the public for parking, adding that the Police and other security personnel would be on duty to ensure order.
It said: “At the Asomdwee Park, there will be specially designated areas in the inner and outer perimeters for members of the general public who wish to observe the ceremony”.
It explained that individuals and organisations wishing to lay wreaths and flowers at the tomb of the late President Atta Mills were welcome to do so after the main event, noting that the Asomdwee Park would remain open to the general public after tomorrow’s event.
“The Planning Committee would like to entreat all concerned to co-operate with the Police and security personnel to ensure orderliness during and after the wreath laying ceremony,” it added.
