Health Minister distributes 2000 eye-glasses for rural areas
Ms Sherry Ayittey, Minister of Health, on Thursday presented 2,000 eye-glasses to the Christian Health Association of Ghana (CHAG) for distribution to help improve the sight of people in rural communities.
The Board Chairman of the CHAG, Rev Cletus Frank Egbi, received the eye-glasses on behalf of the Association and expressed gratitude to government for the gesture.
He said they would be shared wisely to the needy in the rural communities to give them better sight for reading and walking.
Speaking with the Ghana News Agency (GNA), Ms Sherry Ayittey said Ghana Mission, a non-governmental organization, donated the eye-glasses in response to an appeal the Ministry of Health made.
She said the Christian Health Association of Ghana had 182 private hospitals in the country providing quality services to the deprived communities.
“We are giving these spectacles to CHAG to be shared freely to their various hospitals for the needy people in the rural communities, who have sight problems,” Ms Ayittey said.
Mrs Selina Ardayifio, a nurse and a board member of the CHAG, also expressed appreciation to the Ministry for considering the health needs of the rural people and assured the Ministry of their commitment to continue to provide better services to the needy.
The Christian Health Association of Ghana seeks to provide quality health care for people in the rural communities.
