Ningo clans advised to be patient
Nene Kanor Atiapa, Manklalo and Acting President of the Ningo Traditional Council, has called on the leaders of clans in the area to channel their grievances through the Council for redress.
He said issues surrounding the Ningo lands, proposed for the Accra International Airport, was being handled by the government and appealed to them to exercise restraint and approach the Council for any information.
Nene Atiapa made the call in an interaction with the media on Friday.
He explained that the size of the land had been in question, with some speculating that it measures 16,000 acres, whilst others claim it is 60,000 acres, adding that, for the avoidance of doubts, government has initiated moves for the surveying and measuring of the said land.
The Acting President said the Ningo Traditional Area shares boundaries with Prampram, Osudoku and Mamfe and that the stretch of the land for the project has been extended to the Bondase Military Training Camp.
Nene Atiapa said government was doing all this to know the actual acreage of the land for compensation to be paid.
He denied allegations that he had taken money from the government, saying; “it is a big lie” and that, it was some faceless persons who are spreading that rumour to tarnish his image.
