Four to appear before Judgement Debt Commission

Four institutions are to appear before the Judgement Debt Commission to assist in inquiries into judgement debts payments on Monday July 29 and Tuesday July 30.

They are the Attorney General/Solicitor General, the Inspector General of Police, the Chief Director, Ministry of Finance & Economic Planning and the Customs Excise and Preventive Service of the Ghana Revenue Authority.

A statement signed by Mr George William Dove, Public Relations Officer of the Commission and copied to the Ghana News Agency said the representatives of each institution had been invited to appear before the Commission to assist in its work.

“However, they are also informed that they are at liberty to appear with their lawyers. The Commission also reminded the general public that Public sittings would be held at 1000 hours each day.

“Members of the public who wish to testify or volunteer information are to report first at the Commission’s office to give their statements. The Commission will then schedule a date for them to give evidence,” the statement said.

It said all those who intend to testify or volunteer information to the Commission but are unable to be present in person are requested to submit memoranda to the Commission; which will be treated confidentially.

The Commission of Inquiry was established by President John Mahama under the Sole Commissioner Mr Justice Yaw Appau, to inquire into Judgement Debts Payments and other related matters.
