CAGD extends payroll printing reports to other regions

cediThe Controller and Accountant-General Department will now print payroll reports in some regions instead of only in Accra, Madam Grace Adzroe, acting Controller and Accountant-General, has said.

Speaking at the inauguration of a payroll printing facility for the Western and Central Regions at Sekondi on Wednesday, she said this would deepen decentralization of the payroll system.

Payroll reports for the Northern, Upper East and Upper West Regions would be printed at Tamale while that for the Brong-Ahafo and Ashanti regions would be printed in Kumasi.

Those for the Eastern and Volta regions would be printed in Ho and reports for the Greater Accra Region would be printed at the Treasury Headquarters in Accra.

Madam Adzroe said this was expected to ensure that delays in printing and delivery of payroll reports are eliminated.

Also, Heads of Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) and Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies (MMDAs) will receive payroll reports on time to enable them to take action on any anomaly and to minimize the cost and risk of transporting payroll reports to the regions.

She said the arrangement constituted the first phase of the programme for regional printing and under the second phase, printing sites would be extended to other regions as part of the plan to completely decentralize the printing of the payroll reports.

Madam Adzroe said the printing would be limited to payment vouchers and pay slips and access would be granted to authorized representatives of MDAs and MMDAs to do deletion of separated staff on the payroll.

She said facilities and arrangements had been put in place in the Western Region to enable printing to start and thanked the Western Regional Coordinating Council for offering office accommodation for the printing facility.

Mr. Ebenezer Teye Addo, Western Regional Minister who inaugurated the facility, said the facility was a major step in fiscal decentralization and expressed the hope that workers receive their salaries on time.
