Electrician fined for fraud, impersonation

law-and-justiceThe Dzodze Magistrates’ Court has fined an electrician, James Ahiable, GH¢400.00 and GH¢600.00 for impersonation and fraud respectively.

He was also asked to pay GH¢150.00 to Madam Adzogah Sodokpo, a trader, whom he defrauded GH¢50.00 as fee for an electricity meter.

Ahiable, 36, who pleaded guilty to both offences, would serve seven months and nine months respectively in prison if he failed to pay the fines.     The terms in prison would run consecutively.

Mr. Emmanuel Quashie, a Police Inspector at Ave Dakpa, in the Akatsi-North district, told the court presided over by Mr. Anthony Abebrese that, Ahiable and Madam Sodokpo both live at Ave Dakpa.

He said early this year, Ahiable introduced himself to Madam Sodokpo as a staff of the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) and took GH¢50.00 from her to supply her with a meter but failed to deliver.

Inspector Quarshie said Ahiable went into hiding for six months until he was arrested.

Mr. Quashie said similar complaints were being investigating against Ahiable.
