Sport Minister commends two boxers
Elvis Afriyie-Ankrah, Minister of Youth and Sports has commended boxers Richie Oblitey Commey and Emmanuel Tagoe on their recent triumphs.
Commey defeated British Paul Truscott last July in a lightweight commonwealth eliminator in London, whilst Tagoe stopped American Geraldo Robles for the vacant International Boxing Federation (IBF) International lightweight championship at the weekend
The Minister in a press statement signed on his behalf by Michael Frimpong, Head of Public Relations said “Ghana is proud of you and we thank you both for lifting the red, gold and green flag high once again’.
He added that the victories serve as timely reminders that Ghana has the potential to rule the world of boxing given the right approach and support.
Commey accounted for Truscott via a TKO in round nine whilst Tagoe stopped Robles via a similar route in the same round.
