Two died in road accident

accidentTwo people died and many others injured, when two passenger buses, a Mercedes Benz and a Nissan Urvan collided head-on at Mim on the Kumasi-Nkawie road on Tuesday.
The deceased were identified as Akwasi Kesse, driver of the Nissan bus, and Madam Benita Donkor, teacher.

Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Frederick Mensah, Atwima Divisional Commander of the Police Motor Transport and Traffic Unit (MTTU), confirmed the accident to the Ghana News Agency (GNA).
He said the injured, seven of whom are in critical condition were rushed to the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH), whilst those with minor cuts and bruises were treated at the Afari Community Hospital.

The Mercedes Benz bus driven by one Ali Ibrahim was travelling from Abuakwa to Nkawie and in an attempt to avoid running over a goat, veered off his lane and crashed into the Nissan bus, which was coming from the opposite direction, killing the two.
This brings to six, the number of deaths recorded in road accidents on that particular section of the road within the past two weeks.

DSP Mensah urged the Ghana Highway Authority to construction speed ramps on the road to save lives.
Meanwhile, the bodies of the deceased had been deposited at the KATH mortuary.
