NCCE official wants phone-in programmes banned after verdict
An official of the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) has appealed to the National Media Commission to ban phone-in programmes on radios and television stations after the Supreme Court ruling on the 2012 election petition.
Mr Andrews Bright Mensah, Assistant Civic Education Officer at Asikuma-Odoben-Brakwa District Directorate of the NCCE, urged Ghanaians to be circumspect with their utterances after the judgement.
Addressing the Asikuma Peace and Love Keep-fit Club at Breman-Asikuma, he said for the peace to be sustained it was imperative that unguarded comments made by serial callers on the airwaves are curtailed.
Mr Mensah appealed to Ghanaians to have confidence in the ruling of the Supreme Court and abide by it.
He urged members of the Club to embark on peace campaign and said “Be peace ambassadors and educate the youth in particular to put their energies into things which will benefit the country.”
Mr Mensah appealed to Ghanaians to regard the verdict as victory for Ghana’s democracy since it would help strengthen the country’s democracy.
