Otumfuo urges Kotoko’s new Board to be transparent
Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, Asantehene, has inaugurated the newly-constituted Board of Directors for Asante Kotoko with a call on the members to institute comprehensive measures to foster accountability and transparency.
“You should do well to follow proper accounting principles and run the club as a business entity”, he said.
The Asantehene said that was the only way to check corrupt practices which had over the years stagnated growth in the club.
The ten-member Board has Paul Adu-Gyamfi, former President of the Ghana Bar Association (GBA) as Chairman.
The others include Samuel Osei-Kuffour, a former Ghanaian football international, Mr. Kofi Dua Adonten, Ambassador Kabral Blay-Amihere, Frank Apeagyei, Nana Ekuoba Kwadwo Gyasi, Jude Kofi Arthur, Nana Kwame Kusi, Otumfuo’s Ankobeahene, Mr. Joe Gyekye, representing old players, and Bernard Xiel, representing the supporters.
The new Board replaces the defunct Dr. K.K.Sarpong-led Board which had been dissolved amidst controversies.
Otumfuo Osei Tutu 11 tasked the Board to elect a Chief Executive Officer to run the day-to-day affairs of the club.
Mr. Adu-Gyamfi, a former member of the defunct Board, thanked the Asantehene for the confidence reposed in them.
