Gov’t urged to improve road networks to health facilities
The Western Regional Council of the Health Services Workers’ Union (HSWU) of the Trades Union Congress, on Monday appealed to government to tackle the bad road network in the region to facilitate health care delivery.
A statement issued by Mr Jerry Mensah-Pah, Regional Industrial Relations Officer of the union and copied to Ghana News Agency on the occasion of the 4th Anniversary Week Celebration of HSWU expressed worry that some parts of the region cannot access quality healthcare because of bad roads.
“The HSWU is bothered that some Ghanaian citizens cannot access quality healthcare because of bad roads… in the Western Region”, it said.
The Council noted that the bad road network in the region perpetuates poverty because it denies possibilities to some citizens.”
The statement said: “The provision of good roads is a civic responsibility. Good roads are essential for good health and the elimination of bad roads also alleviate poverty.”
