Health NGOs to help speed up MDGs

The Ghana Coalition of NGOs in Health is meeting with stakeholders from South-Dayi, Agortime-Ziope and the Keta Municipality towards tackling pregnancy related death in those places.

The meeting will discuss strategies under the Millennium Accelerating Framework (MAF), which seeks to help accelerate progress at the country level on the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs).

Madam Commend Enyam Akpeloo, Volta Regional Chairperson of the Coalition, said results of the MAF would provide national stakeholders with systematic approaches to identify and analyze bottlenecks slowing down MDGs or to go off-track.

She said pilot experiences had shown that when governments took the lead and were assisted effectively by all partners, including Civil Society Organizations (CSOs), progress was achieved.
