Union disappointed in healthcare providers
The Health Services Workers’ Union (HSWU) of the Trades Union Congress on Tuesday expressed its disappointment in some healthcare providers who refuse to accept postings to certain areas of the country.
The Union said the culture of refusal to accept posting was inimical to quality healthcare delivery and appealed to all Ghanaians especially healthcare providers to be patriotic and help move the country forward.
Mr Abu Kuntulo, General Secretary of the HSWU, said this in a statement as part of its 4th Anniversary Week celebration but conceded that inadequate motivation such as provision of incentives and promotions for to boost the morale of workers in rural areas was the reason for their refusals.
He appealed to government and health sector authorities to consider addressing the issue of motivation for those working in rural areas to boost their morale and to motivate others to accept postings to improve quality healthcare delivery.
Mr Kuntulo also appealed to healthcare providers including its members to support the health sector authorities to ensure that quality healthcare was delivered across board for Ghana’s development.
