University of Energy holds GEONETCast workshop

The University of Energy and Natural Resources (UENR), will organise a two-day workshop on the use of GEONETCast workstation for energy and natural resources management at Fiapre, near Sunyani.

GEONETCast is a near real time, global network of satellite-based data dissemination systems designed to distribute space-based, air-borne and in-situ-data, metadata and products to diverse communities.

A statement signed by Ms Salome Owusu Mbrah, Assistant Registrar, Office of the Vice-Chancellor, UENR copied to the Ghana News Agency (GNA) in Sunyani on Tuesday, said the workshop was scheduled for September 26-27.

It said GEONETCast system was the first of its kind to be installed in Ghana and had the capacity to help lecturers and researchers at UENR to monitor drought, floods, food security and general climate change dynamics in the country.

Participants expected to attend the workshop are from the Catholic University College of Ghana (CUCG) and the Sunyani Polytechnic.
