Black Stars mobbed in Kumasi
Players of the Black Stars were on Wednesday mobbed as the team arrived in Kumasi to begin preparations for Ghana’s crucial 2014 World Cup qualifier against the Chipolopolo of Zambia at the Baba Yara Stadium on Friday.
Security details at the Kumasi Airport had a hectic time controlling the massive crowd that pushed and shove each other in a bid to catch a glimpse of the players.
Having touched down at about 11:30 a.m, the Stars drove straight away from the Airport to the Kumasi Chidren’s Home where the team led by skipper Asamoah Gyan and Michael Essien made a donation to the inmates.
Items donated included four bags of rice, three bags of sugar, three gallons of cooking oil, two cartons of milo and among others.
Gyan said the team was committed to helping the poor in the society and urged philanthropists to continue to be supportive of the Home to ensure their well being.
Ghana require a point in Friday’s game to progress to the final round of the qualifiers.
