Court jails carpenter for defilement
An Accra circuit court on Friday handed an 11 years jail term to a carpenter, Kobla Amegor, for defiling a child under the age of 16.
Amegor was said to have defiled the girl, 11, at Dansoman New Russia in the Greater Accra Region.
The court, presided over by Mrs Sedina Agbemava, convicted Amegor after the court found him guilty of the offence although he pleaded not guilty.
Police Inspector Kofi Atimbire told the court that the complainant, Patient Adisenu is a beautician and the mother of the victim lives in the same house with convict.
He said any time complainant went to work the convict took advantage of the victim. He said he had sex with her on three occasions after which he gave her 50p to buy chewing gum.
Police Inspector Atimbire said on March 14, 2012, at about 2030 hours complainant returned from work very late and on her arrival the convict had already lured the victim into his room, removed her panties on the bed and was already having sex with her.
He said in the process, complainant appeared at the scene and caught convict in the act.
The prosecution said complainant with the help of neighbours arrested the convict.
He said police visited the scene and during investigation, the victims pant was found on the convict’s bed.
