stanchartStandard Chartered Bank has launched a mobile banking application, which delivers an exciting dimension of digitization to its customers.

Dubbed “Breeze” the mobile application would allow customers to have quick and easy access to their accounts, the ability to transfer funds, pay bills and top up their mobile phone credits.

The sophistication and increased expectation of customers has influenced banks to adopt a new way of thinking since customers now wished for simpler and faster banking operations.

Mr Kweku Bedu-Addo, Chief Executive Officer Standard Chartered Bank, said the launch of “Breeze” marked an important milestone in the banking industry in the country.

He said StanChart was the first bank in the country to link customers through a smart phone application and said the introduction was bound to transform banking experience to a higher level.

Mr Bedu-Addo said the bank had been very consistent in introducing best practices, innovation and technology to enhance the life of customers.

Mr Andrew Okai, Executive Director of Consumer Banking of the bank, said the introduction of the application was the bank’s global focus on digitization.

The move by the bank, he said, would help transform the digital space in the country’s financial service industry.

He said with the smartphone penetration at 18 per cent in the country and currently set to double within the next three years, the bank had taken the lead to extend their customer digital lifestyle into banking.

He said digitization in the banking sector would not only transform banking services but the Ghanaians economy as a whole through the opening of job opportunities in related sectors.

Breeze is available on Blackberry, Android and IOS, and customers need to go to their appstore and download the free application.
