OLA Cathedral Choir wins choral festival
The OLA Catholic Cathedral Choir in Tamale has won this year’s Northern Regional Choral Festival contest aimed at projecting African choral music as a tourism product.
The OLA Catholic Cathedral Choir beat the Tamale Evangelical Presbyterian (EP) Church Choir in the amateur competition organised by the Northern Regional Office of the Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA) in Tamale at the weekend.
The contest was to select the best choir to represent the region in the national contest scheduled for November 19 Kumasi.
The GTA presented a cheque for GH1, 000, 00 to the OLA Catholic Cathedral Choir to help in its preparations to represent the region in the national contest.
The Tamale EP Church Choir also took home GH¢500, 00.
Mr Bede Ziedeng, Northern Regional Minister, said most of the country’s tourism potentials were yet to be exploited and gave the assurance that government would continue to support the GTA to develop the country’s tourism.
He called on players in the tourism industry to continue to exhibit hospitable attitudes to woo more tourists to the country.
