Halt MP-DCE rivalry – Minister
The Western Regional Minister, Mr. Ebenezer Kwadwo Teye Addo, has called for a halt to the rivalry between Members of Parliament and Metropolitan, Municipal and District Chief Executives in some parts of the country.
He said this was creating acrimony, hatred and mistrust amongst their constituents, ultimately retarding development.
Mr Addo appealed to these local authorities to let mutual respect and maturity triumph over pettiness to ensure peace and harmony.
He said this at the swearing-in ceremony of the Municipal Chief Executive for Nzema East Municipality, Mr. James Atta Kakra Baidoe at the Regional Coordinating Council in Sekondi.
Mr. Addo urged the new MCE to work hard to justify the trust and confidence reposed in him by the President and the assembly members.
“As a representative of the Government, your words and deeds should be above partisanship and embrace everybody,” he said and added “You should exhibit humility, team work, sacrifice, discipline, innovation and be accessible to all, regardless of party inclination”.
Mr. Baidoe, 38, promised to work hard to bring development to the area.
