Mr Edward Doe Adjaho, Speaker of Parliament, will be sworn in today Thursday as acting President of the Republic of Ghana by the Chief Justice Georgina Theodora Woode.

This has become necessary following plans by President John Dramani Mahama to travel to Mali for the swearing in of President Ibrahim Boubacar Keita today for the country’s Presidential inauguration.

A statement communicated to Parliament from the Presidency noted that Mr Kwesi Amissah Arthur, Vice President, who should have stepped in as the constitutionally backed interim President, had also travelled to the UK, allowing the lot to fall on the Speaker who is the third in the line of succession to the Ghanaian Presidency.

Members of the house were on Monday recalled to consider important government business and scheduled to adjourn sine die Wednesday, September 18, 2013.
