Reform or face punitive sanctions – Local gov’t workers told

Job SeekersLocal government workers who habitually report late or absent themselves from duty have been warned to reform or face punitive sanctions.

Mr. Kwadwo Akuamoah-Boateng, the District Coordinating Director of Asante-Akim South District Assembly, said poor work ethics and bad attitudes would no longer be tolerated.

Addressing a meeting with staff of decentralized departments in the area at Juaso, he said they should also cut down on waste to save cost.

The meeting was to help provide the workers with clear and better understanding of the changes in the local government service (LGS) and address pertinent issues relating to the performance of the assembly.

Mr Akuamoah-Boateng said it could not be business as usual and that they needed to show more commitment and effort to increase productivity and added that LGS was undergoing massive restructuring to inject discipline and bring some level of sanity.

He directed the heads of department to ensure prompt submission of monthly reports and to stop protecting erring subordinates – those who vacate their post without permission.
