Four northern DCEs sworn into office
Four District Chief Executives, who were confirmed by their assemblies in the Northern Region have been sworn-into office to formally begin work to deliver the President’s electoral promises to the people.
They were Mr Abdul Hanan Gundadow, Metropolitan Chief Executive for Tamale, Mr James Jaaga for Bole, Mr Mumuni Shiraz Ibn Yacin for Central Gonja and Mr Issifu Alidu Labandow for Zabzugu.
Mr Bede Ziedeng, Regional Minister administered the oaths of office, allegiance and secrecy to the appointees in Tamale on Monday.
Mr Ziedeng challenged the new Chief Executives to find innovative ways of generating resources to fund development initiatives in their jurisdictions instead of solely relying on the District Assemblies’ Common Fund for development.
He called on them to be guided by the principle of inclusiveness in administering the assemblies to enable them tap into the expertise of all regardless of their affiliations.
He said the government is committed to work to improve the living conditions of the people and advised the appointees to work hard to justify the confidence reposed in them.
Mr Gundadow, who spoke on behalf of his colleagues, gave the assurance they would work to bring development to the people.
