Illegal miner remanded over narcotic drugs
Kwame Akrade, an illegal miner at Konongo- Odumase, has been ordered by the Juaso Circuit Court to be kept in prison custody for allegedly possessing narcotic drugs.
The police had seized from him dried leaves suspected to be cannabis, cement papers, a pair of scissors and cash of GH¢14.00.
He is charged with possessing narcotic drugs without authority and his plea was not taken.
The court presided over by Mr Alex Obeng Asante directed that he should be brought back on October 17, to answer the charge.
Police Chief Inspector Joseph Obeng said the accused was arrested based upon a tip off.
He was found putting the dried leaves in wraps at an illegal mining site and he readily admitted ownership of the suspected illicit substance, sample of which had been sent to the police forensic laboratory for examination.
