Assembly to prosecute property rate defaulters

law-and-justiceMr Ahmed Ibrahim Rufai, Nkoranza South Municipal Coordinating Director, has said the Assembly would begin prosecuting property owners who default in the payment of property rates in the area.

He said cargo truck drivers, who assist traders to evade the payment of market tolls and other levies would also be prosecuted.

Mr Rufai, Nkoranza said this at a meeting with the Municipal Planning Coordinating Units to discuss its Action Plan for 2014 at Nkoranza.

He said the default in the payment of property rates has affected revenue mobilization of the Assembly and warned the perpetrators to pay up.

Mr Rufai said the Assembly would organise capacity building training programmes for revenue collectors and set targets for them to improve on their performance.

Madam Salamatu Ibrahim, Nkoranza South Municipal Director of Health Services, appealed to the Assembly to construct a nutrition rehabilitation centre at Nkoranza to promote the health and growth of malnourished children in the communities.

She said acute water shortage at the Bonsu Health Centre was a major challenge and appealed to the Assembly to provide a borehole or a water tank to ease the problem.

Madam Stella Amoatemaa, Nkoranza South Municipal Chief Executive called for collaboration among all heads of departments to initiate plans to improve the living standards of the people.
