4th Ghana Policy Fair ends

Mr Prosper Douglas Bani, Chief of Staff at the Presidency on Friday commended the public for their willingness to partner government to achieve the better Ghana agenda.

He said the huge patronage of the fourth Ghana Policy Fair is a testimony that Ghanaians are not passive citizens but are willing to collaborate with government to promote development.

Mr Bani said this at the closing ceremony of the Policy Fair in Accra, on the theme: “Partnership and Innovation for Development.”

He gave the assurance that government would continue to give social groups, community based organisations and civil societies the limitless space to contribute to the development of the country and called on other private organisations to join the efforts.

He said the policy fair had lived up to expectation by providing information to the public on various national issues.

Mr Bani urged the Ministry of Information and Media Relations to develop a mechanism that would help evaluate the impact of the fair.

He also called for the extension of the programme to other regions and districts to enable grassroot participation.

Mr Paul Victor Obeng, Senior Government Advisor and Chairman of the National Development Planning Commission, said the policy fair was instituted to empower the concept of the better Ghana agenda.

He said the better Ghana agenda is not a statement of applause but content which focuses on investing in people, building resilient economy and infrastructure as well as good governance.

He said government would work assiduously to lift Ghana from the bottom of a middle income country list to an appreciable level and called for total support from the people.

Mr Mahama Ayariga, Minister of Information and Media Relations said the fair was huge as 180 agencies and department participated in the exhibition session.

He said critical policy issues were discussed during the dialogue session, which would help strengthen democratic institutions and promote good governance.

Before the closing ceremony, there was a dialogue session by the Ministry of Food and Agriculture on the topic: “Modernisation of Agriculture and Agribusiness, a Key to Ghana’s Development and Youth Employment.”
