Ajumako-Enyan-Esiam to celebrate Akwanbokese

Akwanbokese, a maiden festival for the five traditional areas in Ajumako-Enyan-Essiam District of the Central Region, is scheduled for Ajumako-the district capital from November 4- November 10

Akwanbokese, which is expected to attract the chiefs and people from 193 communities, will be on the theme: “Coming together for integrated development, the role of the citizenry.”

Subsequent celebration of the annual festival will be done on rotational bases among Ajumako, Enyan Abaasa, Enyan Maim, Breman Esiam and Enyan Denkyira traditional areas.

As part of the preparation towards Akwanbokese there is a ban on drumming and funerals within the district until November 15.

Series of activities including clean-up exercises, floats, football and other sporting events, health screening for the aged, blood donation, cultural display, visit to historical sites – Ampia Ajumako Museum among others have been planned.

On November. 7, an ICT Centre at Brofoyedur, provided by the First Plus Bank will be inaugurated.

The climax of the festival will take place on November 9 with a grand durbar of the chiefs at the Ajumako campus of University of Education, Winneba.

It will be crowned by a church service.

Addressing members of the planning committee at Ajumako, the Omanhene Okokoburfo Ogyeabour Kwamina Hammah Ababio II, asked citizens from the area as well as public spirited individuals and organisations to support the worthy course.
