MP urges TDC to demarcate boundaries

LandscapeMr Daniel Titus Glover, Member of Parliament for Tema East, has appealed to the Tema Development Corporation (TDC) to help demarcate the boundaries of the various Assemblies within its jurisdiction.

Mr Glover noted that TDC was the appropriate entity to properly demarcate the boundaries of the Tema Metropolitan Assembly (TMA), Ashaiman Municipal Assembly (ASHMA), Kpone-Katamanso District Assembly (KKDA) and the Ledzokuku-Krowor Municipal Assembly (LEKMA).

The MP made the appeal on Tuesday, during the 2013 stakeholders and Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the TDC at Tema.

He indicated that disputes had arisen on the blurred boundaries which were negatively affecting the mobilization of revenue and the smooth operation of the affected Assemblies.

“Since TDC has developmental responsibility in these jurisdictions, the Corporation would be in a proper position to demarcate where each Assembly’s boundary begins and ends”, he said.

Mr Glover called on the TDC to release parcels of land acquired by the State several years ago, but had not been utilized, back to the various traditional councils.

In September this year, the Kpone-Katamanso District Assembly (KKDA) announced that it lost a total of GHc129,400 between January and July this year, due to boundary disputes between the Assembly and the TMA.

According to Alhaji Antaiye Tetteh, Chief Executive Officer of the KKDA, as many as 26 companies along the disputed boundary areas did not honour their tax obligations to the Assembly.
