Rugby clinic organized in cluster schools
Ghana Rugby Football Union (GRFU) in collaboration with a British company, NMS Infrastructure Limited has organized a rugby clinic in Teshie cluster of schools to promote rugby in the community.
The event which was organized to promote rugby at the grassroots of schools within Ghana saw seventeen participant on parade.
Nicholas Oliver, Business Development Director of NMS, said the Ministry of Youth and Sports had increased budget allotted to the sport to attract younger athletes.
“The Ministry has increased the budget so we can build a new national rugby ground next year at East Legon and that will include a pitch and a sports clinic, and also have supporter groups to help promote the game in Ghana”
President of GRFU, Gifty Annan Myers said the event was organized to build the sport among the youth.
“We are catching them young to promote rugby at the grassroots level, and also teaching them to know how to handle the ball, getting a feel of the ball and also to generate interest in them”.
The participated schools included Rapture preparatory school, Royal Calvary and Ebenezer preparatory.
