Suspected robber dies from injuries
One out of three persons taken to the Hohoe Municipal Hospital died following injuries they sustained when a mob beat them up, suspecting them to be armed robbers.
Issah Mohammed died from head injuries and Aminu Adams and Kofi Afenya were treated and discharged but are assisting the Police in their investigations.
Mr Kartey Otumi, Hohoe Divisional Crime Officer, said the trio using a KIA Sportage with registration number GW 6260 -12 were apprehended after a long chase when their movement in the area became suspicious.
He said they abandoned the vehicle after crashing into the Hohoe Assembly’s revenue barrier at New Baika and when the mob caught up with them the three failed to explain their presence in the area and were arrested.
Mr Otumi said some bones and herbs were found on the vehicle heightening suspicion that they were armed robbers or ritual murderers.
