MCE for Tema confirmed
Mr Isaac Ashai Odamtten, was on Wednesday, confirmed as the Tema Metropolitan Chief Executive (MCE).
Mr Odamtten received 31votes of the assembly members, representing 73.81per cent of the 44 votes cast, while 13 of the votes were against him.
Until his nomination and subsequent confirmation, the MCE, who is in his early 40s and married with three children, was a senior manager, corporate services, at the International Commercial Bank (ICB).
He was declared fully confirmed by Mr Alexander Poku-Akubia, Greater Accra Director of the Electoral Commission.
In his acceptance speech, Mr Odamtten, who is a native of Tema, thanked President John Mahama and the assembly members for the confidence reposed in him by nominating and confirming him respectively.
He assured of his readiness to cooperate with management, staff, and assembly members to fulfill the vision and mission of the Tema Metropolitan Assembly (TMA).
He added that with the support of all stakeholders he would work towards restoring the glory of Tema as a premier model planned city of West Africa.
Mr Odamtten noted that his administration would tackle pressing needs of the city such as the bad roads, schools, poor transportation system among others.
Prior to his confirmation, Mr Romeo Akahoho, Presiding Member, TMA, urged assembly members not to seek their own selfish interest but rather sacrifice for the development of Tema by discharging their responsibilities.
Present at the special session were Mr Julius Debrah, Greater Accra Regional Minister and Mr Enoch Teye Mensah, Member of Parliament for Ningo-Prampram.
Others were Mr Kwesi Oppong Ofosu, Local Government and Rural Development Minister, Mr Daniel Titus-Glover, MP for Tema East and Mr Kofi Brako, MP for Tema Central.
