Benin is ready for Africa integration – Minister
Ms Naomie Azaria, Minister in charge of Trade and Commerce for the Benin Republic has said, her country is ready to ensure the full integration of Africa states to promote trade.
She said the government of Benin is not paying lip service to African integration and has ensured that citizens of other member states go through their various borders without any hassle.
Ms Azaria disclosed this on Friday when the Benin Republic held its national day at the on-going 7th ECOWAS Trade Fair in Accra.
She called on other heads of states in Africa to ensure that there is full integration in order to promote trade among them.
She told businessmen who were at the ceremony that the government of Benin is focussing on achieving economic development through the stimulation and development of the private sector.
“The strategic definition by the government to achieve our objective is to rebuild an efficient and modern administration serving the general interest and development of the private sector and reorganising the macroeconomic environment and maintaining its stability,” she said.
Ms Azaria said there are many investment prospects in Benin and called on investors to take advantage.
Nouhoum Assouman, Benin Ambassador to Ghana commended the government of Ghana for the economic stability and called for a continued mutual cooperation between the two countries.
He said the business environment in Benin is very conducive as there is economic stability and the required human resources to help any industry to grow.
Top private industries from Benin such SOBEMAP, dealers in cars and shipping cargo also took turn to address the participants on their operations.
