VRA’s Resettlement Fund Managing Trustees inaugurated
Mr Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah, Minister of Energy and Petroleum, on Monday inaugurated the reconstituted Managing Trustees of the Volta River Authority’s (VRA) Resettlement Fund.
The 15-member Board will oversee the distribution of $500,000 among 52 resettlement townships.
The amount is to be expended on developmental projects including social and welfare.
It board is being chaired by Mr Andrew T. Barfour, Project Coordinator, Ghana Energy Development and Access Project of the Ministry of Energy and Petroleum (MoEP).
Other members include Mr Stephen Doku, Director of Power, MoEP, Mr Maxwell Odoom, Deputy Chief Executive, VRA, Mr Winfred Amenu, Legal Counsel, VRA and Mrs Gloria Appoh, Administrative Officer, Ghana Institute of Management and Professional Administration.
Others are Mr E. Kwasi Banduah, Member of Parliament (MP) for Biakoye, Alhaji Ibrahim Dey Abubakari, MP for East Gonja, Mr Masawudu Mohammed, MP for Sene East, Mr George Loh, MP for South Dayi and Mr Jeff Tetteh Kavianu, MP for Upper Manya Krobo.
The rest are Mr Wisdom Gidisu, MP for Krachi East, Alhaji Amadu Seidu, MP for Central Gonja, Mr Joseph Appiah, MP for Kwahu North, Ms Helen Adzoa Ntoso, MP for Krachi West and Mr Magnus Kofi Amoatey, MP for Yilo Krobo.
They swore the official oath and the oath of secrecy, administered by the Minister, who charged them to work together and implement decisions that would inure to the benefit of the affected communities and the country as a whole.
Mr Barfour on behalf of the board thanked the Minister for the confidence reposed in them and pledged to work with his team to improve the living conditions of the inhabitants of the resettlement townships.
