Seven Sekyere Central schools score zero per cent in BECE
Seven junior high schools (JHS) in the Sekyere Central District scored zero percent in this year’s Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE).
None of the candidates presented by Aframso Number Two D/A, Nkujua AME Zion, Gyetiase D/A, Jeduako Methodist, Akyease/Dida Methodist, Asuboasu/ Santaso T.I. Ahmadiyya, and Dome Afram Plains D/A JHS could score the aggregate mark of 30.
Mr Emmanuel Kofi Mensah, District Director of Education, said out of the 839 candidates who sat for the examination, 455, representing 54 per cent, passed, compared with the previous year’s 45.1 per cent.
He said during a news briefing that a number of measures had been put in place to improve the performance in the coming year.
Mock examinations would be held for all final year students, effective supervision of schools, in-service training for teachers and organisation of school performance appraisal meetings to help stakeholders to have better understanding of their expected roles.
He said parents would be encouraged to take keen interest in academic progress of their children.
