Madina market women cautioned over fire outbreaks
The Municipal Chief Executive of the La-Nkwantanang/Madina, Mr Franklin Anku on Friday, asked market women to be cautious in their activities so as to prevent fire outbreaks in the newly renovated market for the area.
Mr Anku said this when he handed over to the 120 recipients of the new market sheds as the old market structure was gutted by fire in October last year.
He reminded the market women that exactly a year ago, a large number of market women were wailing for the lost of their wares that were destroyed by the fire and asked them to “protect this new market which cost ¢241,154.92 to rebuild as they would anything that would assist them to fend for themselves and their families
In a speech read for Alhaji Amadu Sorogoh, Member of Parliament for Madina, asked the hawkers who have taken over the Madina Market car park to quickly move to the newly renovated market.
One of the group leaders in the Madina Market, Madam Grace Afoley Odai acknowledged the good work done by the La-Nkwantanang/Madina Municipal Assembly (La-NMMA) and thanked them .
