Information officers attend budget dissemination workshop
The Ministry of Finance has opened a workshop for regional budget officers and regional and district information officers to educate them on the highlights of the 2014 budget to enable them to disseminate it to the public.
The participants who were drawn from the Northern, Upper East and Upper West Regions, were schooled on broad policy initiatives in the budget which had been captured in five areas, namely infrastructural development, fiscal policies, private sector/small and medium enterprise development, social interventions and transparency.
Speaking at the opening of the two-day workshop, which ended in Tamale on Tuesday, Alhaji A.B.A Fuseini, Deputy Northern Regional Minister underscored the importance of the workshop, saying it would help demystify the terminologies in the budget for easy understanding by the people at the grassroots.
Alhaji Fuseini said the budget held a lot of hope for the country and called on all to support its implementation.
Mr Felix Ofosu-Kwakye, Deputy Minister of Information and Media Relations urged information officers to effectively explain the policy initiatives contained in the budget to the people to enable them to understand government’s interventions that are geared towards national development.
