Housing Ministry to support AESL
Alhaji Collins Dauda, Minister of Water Resources, Works and Housing, has promised to assist the Architectural and Engineering Services Limited (AESL), to enable the company to grow.
The minister expressed happiness about the ability of the board of AESL to develop and implement strategies which resulted in moderate achievements in 2012.
“I wish to assure you that my ministry in exercising its oversight responsibilities and will continue to assist the AESL in every way possible to make the company grow and become one of the best in the country,” he said.
Speaking at the third Annual general meeting of the AESL in Accra, Alhaji Dauda said government is committed in using local building materials in the construction industry.
He advised AESL to involve the use of local materials in executing their projects in order to bring down cost.
Alhaji Dauda also challenged the board and management of AESL to start developing strategies to facilitate the initiative.
“The ministry is prepared to support and partner AESL to improve the quality of local building materials,” he stressed.
The minister spoke against poor quality workmanship on government projects throughout the country due to bad supervision.
Alhaji Dauda said as consultants, he expects AESL to exhibit high professionalism in their work by ensuring that contractors work in accordance with specifications and designs as well as the Ghana Building Code.
