No programme for women, youth in SADA strategic document – Official

women-farmingThe strategic document designed by the Savanna Accelerated Development Authority (SADA) has no comprehensive plans for the economic empowerment of women and the youth.

To address this situation, SADA has begun series of consultative workshops with stakeholders to identify economic opportunities available to women and youth development in the SADA zone; and to prepare a benchmark document for them.

The meetings would seek to identify potential areas of interest for women and the youth, emerging business opportunities, business development services in critical areas of women and youth business, roles of relevant agencies and SADA’s level of interventions.

Mr Chris Anab, Coordinator of Social Programmes, SADA revealed this when he gave an overview of how SADA’s implementation had progressed so far, at the first of the workshops in Wa.

He revealed that SADA received proposals for various micro-businesses from women and youth groups but there was no benchmark document to accept the proposals and support their implementation.

“Steering development has to be mindful of the vulnerable groups by seeing how resources could be committed to support these groups,” he noted.

Mr Anab said everything was now moving smoothly in the operational zone and the World Bank was supporting SADA to map out the land mass and natural resources in the zone.
