NGO creates cancer awareness with health walk

Little Angels Trust, a non-governmental organisation (NGO, at the weekend organised a health walk christened “Love Walk” to create childhood cancer awareness.

The walk which saw the presence of the Police started from Circle Obra Spot through some principal streets of Accra to the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital.

The organisation donated food items to the Children’s Block of Korle-bu Teaching Hospital including Christmas toys, biscuits, assorted drinks, and toffees.

Ms Brigette Selorm Tagbor on behalf of the NGO, 2004 Old Students of Holy Child School donated assorted items to the organisation in support of the children’s needs.

Mrs Dame Lavinia Enim, Founder of the organisation, said the gesture was part of the organisation’s corporate social responsibility in reaching out to children who are terminally ill.

She said the donation has been an annual affair.

She said the Trust had adopted and renovated the third floor of the Children’s Oncology Cancer Unit of Korle-Bu, where most of the children need extra love, care and support.

Mrs Enim said the organisation had established a body called “Angelhood”, which comprised a team of dedicated, committed and passionate volunteers offering their skills, expertise and experiences for the common goal of responding to the needs of sick children.

She therefore called on individuals and corporate organisations to support both in cash and kind to help children suffering from cancer.
