SDA inaugurates Southern Ghana Union Conference

The Southern Ghana Union Conference (SGUC) of the Seventh-Day Adventist Church (SDA), has been inaugurated at the Garrison SDA Church at Burma Camp in Accra.

The executives include: Pastor Dr Samuel Adama Larmie, President, Pastor Dr Thomas T. Ocran, Executive Secretary, Elder Isaac O. Amponsem, Treasurer, Pastor Dr N. L. Thompson, Ministerial Secretary/Trust Service, Pastor P. Adu Sampah, Madam Solace Hlordzi, Communication/PARL and Madam Margret Osei, Women’s/Children Ministry.

The others are Pastor P.N. Duodu, Chaplaincy, Elder P. Y. Frempah, Education, Pastor A. P. Mensah, Personal Ministry, Youth, Sabbath and Music, Pastor A. K Waahu, Health/Adventist-Muslim Relations, Pastor T. K. Anane-Afari, Publishing/Global Mission, Donna Agboka-Tanihu, Associate Secretary and Elder E. A. Odonkor, Associate Treasurer.

The SDA Ghana Union Conference has been divided into two unions following the increasing numbers of the church in the regions.

The division has also become necessary for the union to make members represent their churches effectively and ensure an efficient management to improve on programmes.

Pastor Dr Gilbert Wari, President, West and Central African Division of the Church said the union should be seen as an office of education, reformation and transformation for the SGUC members.

He expressed the hope that excellence would be the hall mark of the Union.

Pastor Larmie, President of the Southern Ghana Union Conference said the division would make SDA offices in the regions under the unions perform their function well and also make it cost effective.

Pastor J. J Nortey, a Senior Pastor urged the Union to discharge their duties diligently.

The SGUC comprises Western, Central, Volta, Eastern and the Greater Accra Regions.
