Dormaa Chief appeals to Ghanaians to support government
Osagyefo Oseadeeyo Agyemang-Badu II, Omanhene of Dormaa Traditional Area, on Monday appealed to Ghanaians to support the government to speed up national development.
He called on all religious groupings to offer thanksgiving service to God for sailing the country through 2013 peacefully.
Osagyefo Oseadeyo Agyemang-Badu made the appeal at a get-together he organised for the chiefs and people of Dormaa-Ahenkro in his palace.
He said the “pull him back attitude” which had eaten into the fabric of the Ghanaian society would only drawback development.
He said national progress and development could be enhanced through unity, peace and hard work, hence the need for all and sundry, irrespective of party affiliation, to rally behind the government.
Osagyefo Oseadeeyo Agyemang-Badu said drawing back Ghana’s development was partisan politics which was gradually creating enmity among the populace.
He said Ghana, though blessed with abundant natural resources such as gold, timber and oil, remained under-developed because of partisan politicking.
Osagyefo Agyemang-Badu said with unity, 2014 would be brighter and called on the government to ignore detractors and focus on how to enhance on the “Better Ghana Agenda”.
He said countries such as China and Japan witnessed drastic economic transformation because their citizens allow national interest to supersede their individual and parochial interest.
Osagyefo Agyemang-Badu commended Ghanaians for the high sense of maturity they exhibited before, during and after the outcome of the election petition and said he was optimistic that the prevailing peace and tranquility would be maintained and enhanced in coming years for national development.
