Scrap dealer remanded in prison custody for stealing car batteries
The Winneba District Magistrate Court has remanded a 27-year-old man scrap dealer in prison custody for stealing eight car batteries in shop at Winneba Junction.
Kweku Ampomah, who resides at Dwenho in Agona Swedru, pleaded not guilty and will re-appear on November 26.
Prosecution Police Detective Sargent Peter Agbelie told the court presided over by Mr. Charles Owusu Nsiah, that the complainant, Mr. Daniel Kobina Teppreh is an auto electrician residing at Gomoa Aseibu near Winneba.
On October 26 the accused broke into the complainant’s shop at night, stole the batteries and hired a taxi to convey the said batteries to Accra.
He said the taxi driver, after loading the batteries, suspected they might have been stolen and drove the accused person to the Winneba Police station where he was arrested.
Police Sgt. Agbelie said the complainant went to the Winneba Police Station where he identified the batteries as his.
