Tigo extends deadline for ‘digital change-makers’ competition
Tigo Ghana, in partnership with Reach for Change, a nongovernmental organisation, has announced a one week extension for its ‘Digital Change-makers’ competition.
Originally closing on December 1, 2014, Ghanaians can continue to submit their applications until December 8, 2014, according to a statement from the organisers.
Digital Change-makers is aimed at encouraging social entrepreneurs to use technology to solve some of Ghana’s most pressing needs. For the prize money of GHC 60,000 ($20,000), two winners would be selected and also given expert guidance to implement their projects.
According to Tigo, public response had been encouraging and extending the deadline had become necessary as several people were still going through the various stages of the application at www.tigo.com.gh/digitalchangemakers.
Digital Change-makers is the first of its kind this year as previous years have focused mainly on social entrepreneurs.
Past winners include Regina Agyare of Tech Needs Girls; Hayford Siaw of Street Library Ghana, Marian Ewurama Wiredu and Erasmus Ackon of IT4Teens, James Kofi Annan of Challenging Heights and Peter Kwarteng of Neonatal Network Support System.
Both Tigo and Reach for Change hopes to receive quality applications that would demonstrate how mobile broadband, digital and/or information technology can improve the quality of lives of children and society.
