Book on Ghana 2012, 2016 elections launched

A 311-page book titled “2012 and 2016,“ authored by Mr Ben Ephson, a renowned pollster, has been  launched in Accra.

The book captures all details of the 2012 Presidential and Parliamentary Elections, regional maps and locations of the 275 constituencies in the country.

A speech read on behalf of President John Mahama, at the launch,  re-recorded interesting analysis of the 2012 Presidential and Parliamentary Elections.

President Mahama said the educative book also dwelt on charts,  showing Presidential and Parliamentary Elections, and levels of presentation in the 2008 2012 elections.

He said the book focused on summaries of the 2013 election judgment, and the impact of the petition on Ghanaians,  and the increasing number of rejected ballot boxes with suggestions to address the occurrences.

The President said the book analysed the criteria on which majority of Ghanaians voted in 2008, and how they intend to vote in 2016.

President Mahama stressed that the 2016 elections would be peaceful due to the outcome of the election petition in 2013,  and that 53 per cent of Ghanaians believed that vigilance at the polling stations would eliminate electoral fraud.

He said the book brought value to the democratic culture and good historical perspective on the country’s elections for references,  and encouraged all to get copies since it gave an in-depth and accurate information on post-revolutionary elections.

Mr Dan Botwe, Member of Parliament for Okere said the book was useful and refreshing because it gave an accurate and objective analysis of elections.

He said there were so many inaccurate analyses of elections figures on media platforms, adding that the book would serve as a guide for the media to be well informed, and disseminate the right information to the public.

Mr Botwe said he believed that the increasing number of rejected ballot boxes was due to illiteracy, and called for intensive education to resolve the problem.
